Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
