'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from distance, and the defender promptly hammered in the deflection before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
