Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
